Ecology and phenology: — Flemingia trifoliata is found in damp places among grasses, grassland, open forests on sandy clay, and creek margins, from sea level to at least 1000 m. Flowering from February to April, and fruiting from June to December.

Distribution: — Myanmar, China, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam.

Notes: The epithet “ involucrate ” was placed to trifoliata by C.Y. Wu (1946). Junghuhn’s name (from 1845) predates Bentham’s combination (of 1852), which was based on Lespedeza involucrata , a “ nomen nudum ” in Wallich’s list n. 5742 (1831), which bears no descriptive note at all. The combination by C.Y. Wu was apparently overlooked in treatment by Mukerjee (1953), Thuan (1979), Van der Maesen (1985), Ho (1999), Sa & Gilbert (2010).
