Shrubs, erect, ca. 1.5–3 m tall. Branchlets slightly zigzag, pubescent and villous. Petiole 1.2–2.2 cm long, sparsely villous. Stipules lanceolate, 5–6 mm long, hairy, caducous. Leaves unifoliolate; leaf blade ovate-cordate or broadly elliptic-cordate, 7–13 cm long, 5–7 cm wide, papery, adaxially glabrous, abaxially glabrous except on veins, with scattered black glands, basal veins 5, lateral veins pinnate, 6–8 pairs, margin slightly sinuate, apex mucronate. Inflorescence in panicles, axillary or terminal, or fascicled racemes, inflorescence axes 3–8(–10) cm long, slender, pubescent and villous; bracts ovate to ovate-lanceolate, 3–4 mm long, pilose, scarious, equaling the calyx, caducous. Flowers sparsely flowered; pedicel 6–8 mm long. Calyx ca. 5 mm, densely pubescent, with yellowish glands; lobes lanceolate, longer than tube, apex long acuminate, lower one longest. Corolla purplish-pink, longer than calyx; standard circular, clawed, auriculate; wings oblong, clawed, one with tooth-like auricle; keel falcate, wider than wings, clawed. Pods elliptic, 10–14 mm long, 5–6 mm diam., pubescent, with yellowish glands. Seeds 2, suborbicular, ca. 2 mm diam., black, smooth.

Ecology and phenology: — Flemingia paniculata is found in bamboo forest or limestone forest or grassy slope at 700–1400 m. Flowering from January to March, and fruiting from February to April.

Distribution: — China, Thailand, Myanmar, and Laos.

Notes: — F. paniculata is most similar to F. strobilifera by sharing 1-foliolate and ovate-cordate or broadly elliptic-cordate leaf blade, but clearly distinguished from the latter by inflorescence differences (panicles vs. a thyrse with many cymes enclosed by concave bracts).
