Valid name: Myotis capaccinii (Bonaparte, 1837)

Holotype: ZMB 47276, skin and skull (presently missing), male; Karamlek, Strandja, Bulgaria; collected by G. Heinrich, 02 August 1935.

Paratype (same locality, collector and date as for the holotype): ZMB 47277, skin and skull .

Comment: The holotype skin ZMB 47276 definitely represents Myotis capaccini , whereas in contrast its skull ZMB 47276 is definitely of Miniopterus schreibersii . Thus, during preparation skulls must have been mismatched because several M. schreibersii specimens had been collected at the same site and date by the same collector. Although some paratype specimens were exchanged with the Dresden Museum [MTD], the missing skull could not be found there by one of the authors (HT).
