Phyllostoma longifolium Wagner, 1843 View in CoL
Wagner, J.A. (1843) Diagnosen neuer Arten brasilischer Handflügler. Wiegmanns Archiv für Naturgeschichte, 1843, 9 (1): 365 [365–368].
Valid name: Mimon crenulatum (E. Geoffroy, 1810)
Syntype (marked with type *): ZMB 3278 View Materials , skin and skull, male, adult; Villa Maria, Mato Grosso, Brazil; collected by J. Natterer, ex NMW .
Comment: Peters (1866: 398) altered the generic allocation: Tylostoma longifolium Peters, 1866 . The type of Phyllostoma (Tylostoma) longifolium is according to Dobson (1878: 490) “preserved in the Vienna Museum”, however Natterer collected two specimens ( Pelzeln 1883: 31), a female (presently NMW 62898, B. Herzig pers. comm.), and a male, which probably came in exchange to Berlin (ZMB 3278). According to a comment in the general catalogue by Peters, ZMB 3278 is an original specimen used for the description of Phyllostoma longifolium Wagner.
