Herbs, ca. 1 m tall. Branches green, cylindrical, costate. Leaves opposite, sessile, concolorous, blades ca. 4.5 × 2.6 cm, narrow-elliptic, subcoriaceous, glabrous, attenuated at base, acute at apex, entire at margin. Inflorescence in terminal cymes, 11-flowered, peduncle ca. 5 cm. Flowers homostylous, 5-merous, pedicel ca. 3.5 cm; calyx ca. 1.2 × 0.5 cm, green, not winged, not keeled, glabrous, tubular; corolla reddish, hypocrateriform, tube ca. 4 cm, lobes ca. 0.5 cm, lanceolate, at apex acuminate; stamens 2.2–3 cm, heterodynamous, adnate, conation 5 mm, anthers dorsifixed; ovary ca. 8 × 3 mm, style ca. 2.4 cm, stigma bilobed. Fruit septifragal capsule.
Habitat and distribution:— Calolisianthus pedunculatus is found in regions of “campo rupestre” and Cerrado from Santa Catarina to the Bahia portion of the ER, with confirmed occurrences for the states of Bahia, Goiás, Minas Gerais, São Paulo, Paraná and Santa Catarina (Calió 2009, Calió et al. 2015) ( Fig. 3A View FIGURE 3 , Appendix 1) .
Comments:—This species can be readily recognized by the reddish corolla and the fistulous branches ( Siqueira et al. 2014). Can be collected with flowers and fruits all year round (Calió 2009, Siqueira et al. 2014).
