In Canada, this uncommonly encountered eucnemid species was found in Ontario and Québec. In the United States, E. rufiolus was previously recorded in Alabama, Arkansas, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia, and Wisconsin ( Muona 2000; Otto and Karns 2017).
