Type species.— Crassisternalna pauliani Boulard 1980a: 108 . ( Chain of Andrianony , around Manjarivolo , 1650 m, South Andringitra, Central Madagascar)
Remarks.—A monospecific genus characterized by the head not as wide as the mesonotum or lateral pronotum, protruding and angled supra-antennal plates, the subpentagonal frons deeply embedded in the vertex, almost spherical eyes, a trapezoidal pronotum about as long as the head, eight and six apical cells in the fore wings and hind wings respectively, the conical male abdomen, the large timbal, longer than the posterior two tergites combined, male abdominal sternite I large, long and domed, possibly an accessory resonant chamber, and the large, domed, well developed opercula curving posteromediad to cover the tympanal cavity completely ( Boulard 1980a).
Distribution.—The only species of the genus is found in Madagascar ( Duffels & van der Laan 1985; Sanborn 2013).
