Amrasca (Quartasca) excavata View in CoL n. sp.
( Figures 10 View FIGURE 10 M–W)
Length of male 2.9 mm. Ground color dull orange-yellow with white and dark brown markings. Crown with white median line extended from base onto face to apex of anteclypeus, pair of oblique white lines adjacent to eyes on crown and another on frontoclypeus; pronotum, mesonotum and scutellum each with white median anterior spot and pair of white anterolateral spots, lateral pronotal spots each enclosing small brown dot; forewing with some faint brown irroration and round brown medium-sized spot in inner anteapical cell; venter and legs pale yellow.
Hind tibia formula PD:AD:AV 10:9:4.
Male 2S apodemes, parallel-sided, well separated at base, enclosing rectangular area, extended slightly beyond posterior margin of sternite III, apices obliquely rounded. Pregenital sternite with posterior margin broadly bilobed with v-shaped median notch. Pygofer lobe triangular with preapical oblique submedial row of setae in addition to apical group, basolateral setae absent; ventral appendage in lateral view straight, slender, extended along posteroventral margin of lobe and only slightly surpassing lobe apex, abruptly narrowed and excavated medially near apex with slight preapical median lobe. Anal hook very short, slender, tapered and curved mesad. Subgenital plate very long and slender, nearly twice as long as pygofer, more or less parallel-sided in lateral view through most of length, apex narrowly rounded; setal group A consisting of dense group of moderately long, fine setae; group B with single row of short, fine setae; group C with 16–17 macrosetae in single row except two pairs at base; group D with single row of long, fine setae extended around apex at distal fourth. Style apophysis evenly tapered and curved laterad, apex acuminate, with 6 preapical posteromedial teeth and few lateral setae more basad. Connective approximately as long as wide, stem triangular, anterior arms short and widely divergent. Aedeagus with preatrium approximately as long as shaft; shaft in lateral view very slender, base forming right angle with preatrium posteriorly, curved dorsad and slightly sinuate near tapered apex, in posterior view slightly tapered to rounded apex.
Etymology. The species name, a Latin adjective, refers to the preapically excavated male pygofer appendage.
Material examined. Holotype male, VIETNAM: Ninh Binh, Cuc Phuong NP, ca. entrance 20.2501ºN 105.7145ºE 156m, 7 July 2019, C.H.Dietrich, Hg. vapor light, VN19-1-6 ( INHS). GoogleMaps
Notes: This species resembles the type species of the subgenus in coloration but differs in having the ventral appendage of the pygofer abruptly narrowed and excavated preapically, the anal hook much smaller, and the aedeagus with the shaft base forming a right angle with the preatrium and the apex sinuate in lateral view. The 3S apodemes also have a different shape.
