Valid name: Crocidura hirta Peters, 1852

Syntypes: ZMB 672, 673, 674 (skins) and for this A 5528 (3 skulls,which can not be associated individually to 672–674), 2 males and 1 female. Collected by W. Peters from Tette, Mozambique, between 1843 and 1847.

Comment: Peters (1852: 86) discussed three specimens.
