It has been identified in Colombia and Venezuela, feeding on mammals of the order Artiodactyla . All the stages are described in USNTC, USNM, MCZ, FCM ( Barros-Battesti et al. 2006). In Colombia, five Ixodes females collected from Nasuella olivaceaa (cusumbos) in Monserrate hill (Bogotá) were reported by Dr. Juan A. Montoya in the Oficina Sanitaria Panamericana Washington, D.C. There are descriptions of immature stages with records from Colombia and Venezuela ( Cooley 1944; Keirans 1973; Lopez 2017). The species lays in the Rocky Mountain (Hamilton, Montana), the National Museum of United States, (Washington, D.C), and in the Museum of Zoology, University of Harvard (Cambridge, Massachusetts) ( Cooley 1944).
