( Figs 17 View FIGURES 17–23 , 50 View FIGURES 46–51 , 76 View FIGURES 73–78 )
Type material. Indonesia: Holotype ♂, Dumoga-Bone (Bogani Nani Wartabone) NP , Sulaweat Utara, 1140 m, III.1985, leg. R. Ent. Soc. Lond. Project Wallace, slide No. NHMUK010317178 About NHMUK .
Paratypes. 1♂ 1♀, same data as holotype, slide No. NHMUK010316958 About NHMUK ♀.
Other material examined. 1♂ (abdomen missing), same data as holotype .
Diagnosis. The new species can be distinguished in the male genitalia by the simple valva with a tooth below the costal margin near the base, the sacculus greatly convex dorsobasally and the phallus with a straight slender cornutus; and in the female genitalia by the corpus bursae having a sub-rectangular signum.
Description. Adult ( Fig. 17 View FIGURES 17–23 ). Forewing length 5.0 mm.
Head. Vertex and frons shining snowy white, occiput rust brown. Labial palpus yellow on outer surface, second segment mixed with brown scales, white on inner surface. Antenna yellowish grey on ventral surface, white on dorsal surface.
Thorax. Mesonotum and tegula deep reddish brown. Forewing reddish brown; antemedian fascia white edged with black scales, extending from basal 1/3 of costal margin obliquely inward to dorsum, wider posteriorly; costal spot white margined with black scales, rounded, very large, extending from distal 1/3 to above dorsum; apical spot white, very small; fringe dark greyish brown. Hindwing and fringe greyish brown. Foreleg black, except femur greyish white ventrally, tarsus whitish yellow at apex of each tarsomere; midleg greyish brown, tarsus white at apices of basal two tarsomeres ventrally and on entire apical tarsomere; hindleg earth yellow, tarsus black except white at apex of basal tarsomere and on entire second and apical tarsomeres.
Male genitalia ( Fig. 50 View FIGURES 46–51 ). Uncus wide at base, narrowed to basal 2/3, then parallel to apex, sclerotized laterally and distally, densely setose laterally. Gnathos shorter than uncus; mesial plate sub-rectangular. Tegumen uniformly wide, with a shallow anterior emargination. Valva with basal 2/3 wide and subparallel, slightly narrowed from distal 1/3 to rounded apex, with a tooth below costa near base; costa convex near base; sacculus conspicuously convex dorsobasally, abruptly narrowed and fused with ventral margin of valva distally. Saccus shorter than uncus, basal 1/2 wide, sharply narrowed from middle to pointed apex. Juxta short, sub-ovate, folded laterally. Phallus longer than valva, straight, slightly tapered to apex; cornutus slender, uniform, as long as 1/3 length of phallus.
Female genitalia ( Fig. 76 View FIGURES 73–78 ). Apophyses anteriores 1/2 length of apophyses posteriores. Eighth sternum quadrate. Antrum cup-shaped. Ductus bursae uniform; ductus seminalis arising from conjunction between ductus bursae and corpus bursae, longer than ductus bursae. Corpus bursae shorter than ductus bursae; signum large, sub-rectangular.
Distribution. Indonesia.
Etymology. The specific epithet is derived from the Latin vulgaris , referring to the rather simple male genitalia.
