Material examined. BRAZIL: Bahia, Chapada Diamantina, Lençóis, Mucugezinho , Rio Mucugezinho , 29.x.2013, UV light pan trap, Calor A.R., Dias E. & Campos R., 1 male (alcohol, UFBA) . Distribution. Brazil (BA, ES, MG, SP)
Schmid (1984) and Malicky (1993) estimated that the world caddisfly fauna may contain approximately 50,000 species. In this way, only about 20–25% of world species of caddisflies has been described (de Moor & Ivanov 2008). In Brazil, the number of caddisfly species has been increased in the last decades, but studies in some areas are still scarce. The Brazilian Northeast Region comprises 18% of the Brazilian territory, with around 1.6 Tm2, but only 120 species have been recorded, 40 of these in Bahia State. Here, 31 caddisfly species, including Helicopsyche (F.) catoles n. sp., belonging to 14 genera and eight families were recorded from Chapada Diamantina , Bahia. Two of these previously described species constitute new records for Brazil [ Helicopsyche (F.) succincta and Marilia misionensis ] and another 10 of these species represent new records for Bahia [ Chimarra (Curgia) hyoeides , Macronema hageni , M. partitum , Polyplectropus tragularius , Smicridea (Rhyacophylax) coronata , S. (R.) helenae , S. (R.) iguazu , S. (R.) jundiai , S. (R.) radula , and Marilia major ].
