Type species. Domecia hispida Eydoux & Souleyet, 1842 View in CoL [ Type locality: Sandwich Islands ].

Remarks. Domecia is formed by four species ( Ng et al. 2008), two of which known from Atlantic localities: D. acanthophora (Desbonne in Desbonne & Schramm, 1867) and D. africana Guinot in Manning & Holthuis, 1981. The validity of D. africana actually needs further examination.
