Mimotettix lateralis (Walker) View in CoL

Bythoscopus lateralis Walker, 1857: 173 View in CoL .
Paralimnus lateralis (Walker) , Distant, 1908: 395 – 397, fig. 246. Mimotettix lateralis (Walker) View in CoL ; Webb & Heller, 1990: 7.
Material examined. Malaysia ( Sarawak): 13 (holotype of Bythoscopus lateralis Walker ); 23, foot of Mount Dulit; 2Ƥ, Gunong Mulu National Park ( BMNH).
Diagnosis. The species is similar to M. alboguttulatus but has the male pygofer more broadly rounded apically in lateral view and the dorsal aedeagal flange broader.
Remarks. An indet. female specimen of Mimotettix from Burma bears the labels ‘Myita (Doherty)’ and ‘figured’. This could be the specimen figured by Distant for his redescription of lateralis (see reference above) but his distribution list does not include Burma. The type bears a circular white disc with the handwritten word ‘SAR’ on one side and 68.4 on the other. The number 68.4 refers to an entry in the BMNH register for 1868 that reads: ‘Presented by W. Wilson Saunders Esq. various [localities]’ (see Carvalho & Webb, 2005: 109 for general information on the registers).
Distribution. Malaysia ( Sarawak) ( Fig.16 View FIGURE 16 ).
