Number of specimens recorded. 187.

Distribution. Europe, only recorded in the south from Spain and Portugal. Portugal: five northern provinces (see also Naglis & Barták 2015).

Ecology. Gymnopternus cupreus was encountered in a large variety of biotopes in Portugal (not in dunes), with a preference for grasslands and heathlands, and marshes and riverbanks. In northwestern Europe, this riparian species is mainly found on banks of pools in deciduous forests, both on loamy and sandy soils ( Pollet et al. 1992).

Rarity (%). 21.8 (common). Very common (FL).
