Oligoxystre auratum Vellard 1924 View in CoL
Oligoxystre auratum Vellard 1924: 152 View in CoL , pl. 10, f. 38.
Types. Holotype male, Catalão, Goiás, Brazil, not located. According to Vellard (1924), the type was deposited in the collection of Instituto Vital Brazil. This collection no longer exists and the type is presumed lost, as also noted by Raven (1985).
Diagnosis (from Vellard 1924). Male palpal bulb with long and slightly curved embolus; bulb as twisted on itself, prolonged by long collar, depressed at base and embolus with thin apical end, curved. Cephalothorax dark red covered with dense and short pubescence yellow (a few golden and longer on margins). Femora with thick golden pubescence on dorsal and ventral faces, sparse on ventral face of tibiae. Abdomen dark brown with golden hair.
Note. Vellard (1924) provides informative drawings of the male palpal bulb, tibial apophysis and dorsal habitus. Specimens collected at the putative type-locality, those of which are representatives of O. bolivianum , do not match Vellard's description, due to differences in the genitalia morphology, although they have similar color pattern. O. bolivianum has a tapering embolus, sharply bent at its midlength ( Fig. 4 View FIGURES 1 – 6 ) with an excavation apically ( Fig.5 View FIGURES 1 – 6 ) which resembles small keels when seen under the stereomicroscope. Therefore, O. auratum and O. bolivianum are presently considered sympatric species in southern Goiás state. A detailed description and diagnosis of O. auratum will only be possible with the discovery of a male that matches the original description. Females unknown.
