Note: The record of Py. vietnamensis for the Philippines is only reported in the list, A verification of reports of marine algal species from the Philippines in Ang et al. (2014). The references however which the authors cited did not refer to any Philippine Py. vietnamensis samples. This species is thus excluded.

Note: Aside from the uncertainty of the collection site, Cordero (1974) commented that the voucher specimen under the name Po. variegata , which was identified by Velasquez et al. (1973) suited the morphological features common to Rhodymeniacean species and that he was certain that there was no Bangiales specimen in Velasquez et al. ’s collection ( Cordero 1977, p.17).
