Philippine record of distribution: Cagayan, Ilocos Norte.

Note: The whereabouts of the voucher specimen used by Quisumbing (1951) is unknown and there might also be a potential misapplication on the use of Py. denticulata for the Philippine record. This species is known to be restricted to Australian waters ( Levring 1953; Sutherland et al. 2011) while its disjunct distribution in Yemen was recorded with uncertainty ( Ormond & Banaimoon 1994). Womersley & Conway (1975) suggested that Py. denticulata is a mere synonym of Pyropia columbina (Mont.) W. A.Nelson ( Sutherland et al. 2011: 1143), a species whose distribution confined in ocean basins of southern hemisphere ( Nelson & Broom 2010) but neither reported in the Philippines ( Silva et al. 1987) nor the Indian Ocean ( Silva et al. 1996).
