Sufrútices o arbustos, inermes o espinosos. Tallos ramosos, tortuosos, Hojas dísticas, apiñadas en la base de las ramas jóvenes; pecíolo envainador, persistente; folíolos 1-7, el terminal un poco mayor, pulvinulados; estípulas nulas. Flores solitarias, geminadas o reunidas en glomérulos axilares; brácteas enteras o palmatisectas. Cáliz acampanado, con la boca del tubo truncada; dientes subiguales. Androceo submonadelfo, con el estambre vexilar libre solo en la base. Fruto subestipitado. x = 7.
