Type locality. Bolivia: Cochabamba, Villa Tunari , 310 m a.s.l.

Differential diagnosis. See under P. paranigrimarginata sp. nov. above and the key to Pentacomia species below. Moreover, the elytra are variably metallic black-coppery with diffusing green-blue lustre, or coppery with brighter cupreous and faint greenish lustre and narrow, longitudinal metallic black marginal (juxtaepipleural) area which changes to vividly cupreous when observed and illuminated, in lateral view.
Redescription. Body ( Figs 15–16 View FIGURES 11–24 ) very small to small, 7.20–8.20 mm long, 2.20–2.40 mm wide, deep coppery with olivaceous-green lustre, elytra mostly metallic black with diffusing green-blue lustre, or coppery; setal vesture whitish.
Head ( Fig. 19 View FIGURES 11–24 ) wide with bulged eyes but narrower than elytra, 2.20–2.50 mm wide, deep coppery, usually with olivaceous-green lustre.
Frons, vertex genae and clypeus with surface as in P. paranigrimarginata sp. nov. but usually darker with faint greenish iridescence and vertex with somewhat coarser and more irregular rugae.
Labrum sexually dimorphic, basically shaped and coloured as in P. paranigrimarginata sp. nov., but in both sexes notably longer; male labrum ( Fig. 17 View FIGURES 11–24 ) with more distinct median tooth, 0.65–0.67 mm long, 0.80–1.05 mm wide; female labrum ( Fig. 18 View FIGURES 11–24 ) much longer and with longer tridentate anteromedian lobe with prominent median tooth, 1.00– 1.15 mm long, 1.05–1.25 mm wide.
Mandibles ( Fig. 19 View FIGURES 11–24 ) as in P. paranigrimarginata sp. nov., but teeth often with green lustre and the fourth tooth in both mandibles notably smaller.
Palpi ( Fig. 19 View FIGURES 11–24 ) shaped and coloured as in P. paranigrimarginata sp. nov.
Antennae ( Figs 15–16, 19, 13–14 View FIGURES 11–24 ) comparatively long, almost reaching elytral half; scape with only apical seta, testaceous with metallic cupreous or green lustre; antennomeres 2–5 ochre-yellow to testaceous, often with faint metallic lustre on apices and on pedicel; antennomeres 7–11 ( Figs 13–14 View FIGURES 11–24 ) progressively blackened and becoming gradually shorter, but still elongate; last two antennomeres never distinctly dilated (normally shaped).
Thorax. Pronotum ( Fig. 22 View FIGURES 11–24 ) notably longer than wide, length 1.55–1.65 mm, width 1.25–1.45 mm; sulci well pronounced; anterior lobe wider than the posterior lobe; disc with only moderately convex lateral margins (includ- ing dorsally visible outer proepisternal margins); notopleural sutures clearly obvious from above, mutually subpar- allel and distant from proepisternal outer margins; whole pronotal surface sculptured as in P. paranigrimarginata sp. nov., but the vermicular and wavy rugae notably finer, particularly on disc; discal surface on large median area glabrous, only lateral areas with several, easily abraded decumbent setae; lateral and ventral thoracic sterna as in P. paranigrimarginata sp. nov.
Elytra ( Figs 23–24 View FIGURES 11–24 ), elongate, length 4.20–4.90 mm, lateral margins in male mostly subparallel, in female slightly dilated in middle, humeri rounded, in female often almost subquadrate; anteapical angles arcuate, then obliquely running towards apices which are in male only moderately rounded towards small but distinct sutural spine, while more distinctly rounded in female; microserrulation indistinct, very irregular; dorsal elytral surface uneven, with similar impressions and convex areas as in P. paranigrimarginata sp. nov., but the bulged areas less distinct; elytral punctation coarsely punctate, punctures more irregular and much coarser than in P. paranigrimar- ginata sp. nov. particularly larger and with wider, flat intervals on anterior elytral half, very coarse and irregular within discal and postdiscal impressions (lacking the elongate narrow area of elevated punctures connecting the two impressions, which is present in P. paranigrimarginata sp. nov.); coloration variably metallic black-coppery with diffusing green-blue lustre, or coppery with brighter cupreous and faint greenish lustre and narrow, longitudinal, metallic black juxtaepipleural area which changes to vividly cupreous in lateral view; whitish maculation consisting of small subhumeral macula, simple, mostly irregularly triangular lateromedian macula, small, irregularly rounded central macula, and anteapical macula which is mostly only moderately dilated, slightly elongated, but markedly distant from elytral apex.
Legs as in P. paranigrimarginata sp. nov., but tarsi, particularly protarsi generally darker and with metallic green lustre.
Abdomen as in P. paranigrimarginata sp. nov., in examined specimens surface of ventrites with better noticeable and longer microsetae.
Aedeagus ( Fig. 20 View FIGURES 11–24 ) generally shaped as in other species of the genus, apical half conically attenuated and rather distinctly ventrally directed towards narrow, rounded apex; internal sac ( Fig. 21 View FIGURES 11–24 ) conspicuously armed with mostly distinctly sclerotized pieces, comprising basoventral spur with distinct projection, thin, composed basal sclerites connected with a membrane, long, longitudinal central spike surrounded with a membrane with finely cristate surface, long, narrow spike placed along dorsoapical orifice, and upper, moderately bent acute spike arising from the membranous area.
Distribution and biology. Known from Bolivia where it has rather large distribution. The type locality Villa Tunari in the department of Cochabamba at Andean base lies about 300 km southeast from the town of Santa Cruz de la Sierra (and from the type locality of P. paranigrimarginata sp. nov.). Pearson et al. (1999) listed only four localities, all from the type locality area. The locality Chapare with Río Chimore (16°37´S; 65°47´W) is situated 37 km northwest of Villa Tunari. Chapare (16°48´S; 65°07´W) lies about 50 km northwest of Villa Tunari. P. nigrimar- ginata was recently caught by the second author also in the departments of Beni and La Paz (see “Other material examined above”. Adults occurred on clay embankments mostly in secondary forest.
