Etymology. THE NEW SPEcIES IS NAMED AfTER DR. JEAN-MARIE BETScH, AS A REcOGNITION fOR HIS MAJOR cONTRIBUTIONS TO THE KNOWLEDGE ON COLLEMBOLA SYMPHYPLEONA .

Distribution and habitat. THE SPEcIMENS WERE cOLLEcTED DURING THE BEGINNING Of THE RAINY SEASON IN A SEMIARID CAATINGA DOMAIN, LOcATED IN STATE Of PARAIBA, NORTHEASTERN BRAZIL (06°58' 27.7' 'S/34° 27' 32.2' ' W) GOOD’S BIOGEOGRAPHIc ZONE 27 ( GOOD1974).

Remarks. Denisiella betschi sp. nov. IS VERY EASY TO DISTINGUISH fROM OTHER Denisiella BEcAUSE IT HAS BARBULATE SPINES ON fRONTAL HEAD THAT HAVE NEVER BEEN cITED IN OTHER SPEcIES. THE ANTENNAL SEGMENT II IS VERY SHORT AND THE SETA B7 IS TRUNcATE. THE RATIO Of ANT. III: ANT. II IS ONLY 1.4, WHILE IN D. caatingae sp. nov. AND D. rhizophorae sp. nov. SUcH RATIOS ARE 1.7 AND 1.8 RESPEcTIVELY. THE fOUR SENSILLA ON TIBIOTARSUS I ARE cAMPANIfORM AND RUGOSE, SIMILAR TO THOSE Of D. diomedesi AND D. maesorum ( TABLE 1). MALES ARE THE SMALLEST AMONG ALL THE SPEcIES Of THE GENUS KNOWN, SMALLER THAN 600 µM.
