Material examined: BBB 2016: St. 25 (MACN-In 42334).
Remarks: The genus was thought to be endemic to shallow-waters of southern Africa ( 30 to 73 m), with only one species described so far, Ideogorgia capensis Williams, 1992 . The present new deep record ( 467 m) represents the first ocurrence of the genus in subantarctic waters and suggests early connections between these two distinct ocean basins. The material examined correspond to a new species recently described and deposited in the MACN (MACN-In 42334) ( Pérez & Cordeiro 2020).
