Notocyrtus colombianus Carvalho & Costa, 1992 View in CoL
N. colombianus was described from a female collected in Colombia ( Carvalho & Costa 1993). The mounted specimen from Rio Negro, Amazonas, was found beside a worker of Ptilotrigona lurida (Smith, 1854) ( Hymenoptera ; Apidae ; Apinae ; Meliponini ) (Fig. 14) with an identical data label. It seems that the [unknown] collector wanted to show the probable mimicry between these two species. The identification of the bee follows Camargo & Pedro (2004).
New records. Brazil, states of Amazonas and Rondônia.
Material examined: BRAZIL, 1 female, Amazonas, Rio Negro, VII-1941; 1 female, Rondônia, Ouro Preto do Oeste, Margem Direita do Rio Paraíso, 17-III-1985 [ MNRJ].
