Dolerocypris? marfinensis Krömmelbein, 1962

1962 Dolerocypris ? marfinensis n. sp. —Krömmelbein, p. 489–490, pl. 58, fig. 38.

Diagnosis: A species placed only with great reservations in Dolerocypris , with a rather rounded triangular lateral outline of the carapace and with a distinctive sculpture consisting of finer or coarser little ridges, which run approximately parallel to the valve margins, but which can branch out and disperse, particularly marginally, into an irregular network. In the area of the central muscle field and laterally below the dorsal line the sculpture can be very weakly developed or can be almost completely absent. The ventral curvature-slope of the ventral side of both valves can appear ridged.

Holotype: Carapace, SMF Xe 4248.

Paratypes: 3 carapaces under SMF Xe 4249 .

Dimensions: Holotype, length 0.78mm, height 0.47mm.

Remarks (Bate et al. herein): This species was placed into the genus Petrobrasia by Krömmelbein (1965a). Note that Krömmelbein in his paper incorrectly dated Cypris fasciata , type species of Dolerocypris , as 1785 when it is O.F. Müller (1776).

Remark (Bate et al. herein): In Krömmelbein (1962) at this point nine earlier taxa of ‘ Metacypris ’, Gomphocythere , Darwinula are figured, material SMF Xe 4250–4258; not imaged in the present paper.
