Martarega hungerfordi Truxal, 1949 View in CoL
( Figures 7A–D View Figures 5–8 , 14B)
Martarega hungerfordi Truxal, 1949: 12 View in CoL [ Guyana].
Martarega hungerfordi: Fittkau 1977: 16 View in CoL [ Brazil].
Martarega hungerfordi: Heckman 2011: 489 View in CoL [South America].
No specimens were collected in the regions sampled. Nieser (1970, 1975) reports that M. hungerfordi View in CoL was taken from the States of Amazonas and Pará (Figure 14B). These records refer to the species M. nieseri View in CoL sp. nov. otherwise (Nico Nieser in litt.), with which M. hungerfordi View in CoL may be confused. Martarega hungerfordi View in CoL was recorded by Fittkau (1977) from the Amazon Region, but the record could not be verified, because the author provided only a list of species.
Martarega hungerfordi may be mistakenly keyed out to M. oriximinaensis in Barbosa et al. (2010) key to Martarega species occurring in political northern Brazil. This is because its hind trochanters have a sharp concavity at its distal end ( Figure 7B View Figures 5–8 ) and its median stripe does not bifurcate at apex of hemelytra ( Figure 7A View Figures 5–8 ).
