Genus Hylesinus Fabricius, 1801 View in CoL
Hylesinus species are diagnosed by the following diagnostic characters: body length: 2.2–6 mm; funicle seven-segmented; club long and ovate, with three sutures; anterior margin of eye weakly sinuate; pronotum wider than long often armed on anterolateral areas by coarse asperities; anterior margin of elytra armed by row of overlapping crenulations; lateral elytral margin with furrow; abdominal ventrites gradually rising posteriorly; procoxae subcontiguous; distinct pattern of coloration, due to vestiture of light and dark colored scale-like setae on the body surface; host: deciduous trees.
