TYPE GENUS.— Carineta Amyot & Audinet-Serville 1843: 482 View in CoL .
REMARKS.—A pronotum that is distinctly narrowed anteriorly with oblique lateral pronotal margins, a mesonotum that is longer than the pronotum, a robust body that narrows both anteriorly and posteriorly, usually hyaline wings with heavy infuscation found in only a few species, and male claspers and basal lobe appendages that can be elaborate in some genera characterize members of the tribe ( Distant 1905c; Marshall et al. 2018).
