Previous records. Sulaymaniyah: [SU 2] ( Lewis 1986a), [SU 1], Erbil: [ER3], [ER4], Dohuk: [DO1], and Al-Anbar: [AN2], [AN3] (as S. morsitans View in CoL ; Chamberlin 1958; Lewis 2001) provinces.

Distribution. Mostly the Turano-Mediterranean Region ( Zalesskaja & Schileyko 1991, 1992; Dyachkov et al. 2022b).

Remarks. According to Lewis (2001), some specimens identified as S. morsitans by Chamberlin (1958) belong to S. canidens .
