Current name. Hydromys hussoni Musser & Piik, 1982 ; following Musser & Carleton (2005).
Paratype. M.18627 (= RMNH 29176 About RMNH ), female, skull, study skin, collected on 1 October 1939 by “New Guinea Expedition K.NAG” [= Royal Netherlands Geographical Society] .
Type locality. Via Enarotali village (3°55'40"S 136°22'6"E), 1765 m, on the east side of Paniai Lake, Paniai Lakes district (= Wissel Lakes district), Irian Jaya (= Papua Province, Indonesia) GoogleMaps .
Comments. Specimen RMNH 29176 About RMNH is listed in the original account as a referred specimen but is treated here as a paratype because it was part of the series used to describe the taxon. Exchanged from RMNH (now the National Museum of Natural History Naturalis in Leiden); registered at the AM on 15 February, 1988.
