? Euphrosine myrtosa Savigny in Lamarck, 1818

DISTRIBUTION: NA, CA.

LITERATURE RECORDS: Grube 1861; Lorenz 1863; Stossich 1883; Carus 1884; Požar-Domac 1994; Castelli et al. 2008.

REMARKS: Until the recent report by Castelli et al. (2008) for the CA, all previous literature reports regarded the single Grube's (1861) finding in the rocky mediolittoral of the Cres Island (NA). However, more precise data on the collecting site, supporting the distribution reported in Castelli et al. (2008), was not available. Considering this, together with the fact that the type locality of the species is the Red Sea (Gulf of Suez) ( Lamarck 1818; Day 1967), and that Grube (1861) considered his identification from Cres as uncertain, the presence of E. myrtosa in the Adriatic Sea is dubious.
