Range:— West Indies; mountains from southern Mexico to Bolivia (CO, LP, SC); southeastern Brazil.
Ecology:— Common; terrestrial in humid forests; 900–2950 m.
Notes:— Variable, more than one species may be involved.We follow Rojas (2008) in recognizing Austroblechnum organense as distinct, but further research is needed.
