Alexander, 1942: 54–55 (original description); 73, figures 19 (wing) and 20 (male terminalia); (as Limonia). Type locality: Brazil, São Paulo, Embu-Guaçu.

Holotype male with labels: (1) handwritten on white paper: “ Brazil | São Paulo | S. Cabeceiras | M’Boy Guassu | Campos | Dec.18. ’40 [December 18, 1940] | D’Amico”; (2) printed with handwritten inscriptions on red paper: “HOLO- TYPE ♂ | Limonia | ( Geranomyia ) | damicoi | C. P. Alexander”.

Preservation: mounted at the tip of a pinned paper triangle; terminalia undissected. Missing parts: most legs except left front leg.

Allotype with labels: (1) handwritten on white paper: “ Brazil | São Paulo | S. Cabeceiras | M’Boy Guassu | Campos | Dec.18. ’40 [December 18, 1940] | D’Amico”; (2) printed with handwritten inscriptions on red paper: “ALLOTYPE Ψ | Limonia | ( Geranomyia ) | damicoi | C. P. Alexander”.

Preservation: mounted at the tip of a pinned paper triangle; terminalia undissected. Missing parts: left flagellum and all legs. Additional note: the original description and label (2) indicate the specimen as female, but it actually belongs to the male sex.

Paratypes: 3 females with labels: (1) handwritten on white paper: “ Brazil | São Paulo | S. Cabeceiras | M’Boy Guassu | Campos | Dec.18. ’40 [December 18, 1940] | D’Amico”; (2) printed with handwritten inscriptions on blue paper: “ PARATYPE S Ψ | Limonia | ( Geranomyia ) | damicoi | C. P. Alexander”.

Preservation: all specimens mounted at the tips of paper triangles pinned together; all specimens intact.
