Ctenoscina brevicaudata Wagler, 1926 View in CoL
Southwest Atlantic: 1090265, 8/605, [58°27’S 22°17’W], 1693–1812 m; ex. 1090416, 8/581, [57°34’S 23°20’W], 988 m; ex. 1090481, 8/643, [57°46’S 24°21’W], 617–1160 m. Southeast Pacific: ex. 1013464, 10/793, [64.275°S 82.608°W], 3294 m; ex. 1090383, 5/280, [67°19’S 74°52’W], 2577 m. Southwest Pacific: 1090436, 11/909, [64°48’S 114°26’W], 4886 m.
Remarks: This is a rare species previously known from only ten specimens, from the north-west Pacific, the tropical Indian Ocean and the south Atlantic and Indian Ocean, off South Africa, including the Antarctic Zone of the Southeast Atlantic and Eastern Indian Ocean Sectors ( Zeidler & De Broyer 2009). It seems to be a deep-water species (> 500 m). Another six specimens are recorded here from the Antarctic Zone of the Southwest Atlantic and Pacific Sectors, representing new records for those regions.
