Type species: Phoracantha scitula Pascoe 1863:551 , by monotypy.
Diagnosis
Distinguished by head, pronotal disc, thoracic sterna and abdomen with depressed hairs; segments 3±6 or 3±7 of antennae with very short and thin apical unispines; segment 3 much more than ®ve times length of its apical spine; antennal scape not grooved above; pronotum with ®ve to seven nodules on disc, at least posterior pair rugged and/or rugose, and the interspace of nodules rugged or rugose, un-nitid (except A. unifasciata ); elytra with one or two more or less raised, light ivory fascia, arranged transversely.
