Description. Head. Antennae filiform in both sexes, black with white at basal 10–12 segments dorsally. Frons reddish brown or yellowish brown. Labial palpus red orange, pale apically. Vertex white.
Thorax. Patagia, tegulae, and thorax white. Legs white, fore- and median femora suffused with pale yellowish brown, black patches present between femora and tibia of fore- and median legs, hind tibia dilated in male, with hair-pencil, both sexes with two pairs of spurs. Forewing length: male 25–27 mm; female 26–28 mm. Forewing with outer margin straight. Hind wing with a small tail, tip acute, shoulder prominent. Wings white. Forewing with sparse short dark grey streaks on costa; antemedial and postmedial lines straight, greyish brown and oblique, former nearer to latter on anal margin than on costa; discal spot linear and greyish brown; pale grey striation present near submarginal area; terminal line black, invisible near apex and anal angle; fringes mostly yellowish brown, white near apex and anal angle. Hind wing with discal spot indistinct; medial line straight, greyish brown, not extending to costa and anal margin; pale grey striation present near submarginal area; terminal line black, invisible near apex and tip of tail and anal angle; fringes mostly reddish brown, pale near shoulder and tip of tail and anal angle; tail with two spots at base, anterior large, dark red, surrounded with black scales, posterior represented by a black dash. Underside white, transverse lines faintly indicated. Forewing with R 1 and R 2 coincident.
Abdomen. Abdomen white with setal comb on third sternite.
Male genitalia. Uncus stout and long with rounded apex, length almost equal to basal length. Socii small and membranous. Gnathos with median process large and rounded. Valva simple, rounded and narrow apically; costa straight. Furca developed on right side, stout and long, slightly curved apically, with a dense row of thorns at terminal one third or one fifth, reaching middle of uncus. Saccus semicircle. Aedeagus cylindrical; vesica with a row of short and stout cornuti, all of similar size.
Female genitalia. Lamella postvaginalis and lamella antevaginalis broad and short, lamella antevaginalis ribbed and about one-half length of anterior. Colliculum present. Ductus bursae membranous, about one-half length of corpus bursae. Corpus bursae oval, weakly sclerotized and crinkled posteriorly, bearing a signum centrally; signum large, almost elliptical, flat at anterior margin, with short marginal spines; disc large, almost elliptical; width of frill broader at anterior side than posterior side.
Diagnosis. The species is unique by the following characters: in the male genitalia, the furca is long and stout (reaching the middle of the uncus), slightly curved apically, with short spines inside on terminal one-third; the cornuti are a row of short and stout spines. In the female genitalia, the lamella antevaginalis are very short and strongly sclerotized and ribbed; the signum is flat on anterior margin.
Etymology. The specific name is derived from the Latin word curtus, which means short. This refers to the short lamella antevaginalis of the female genitalia.
