Ourapteryx aniqiaoensis Cheng & Zhu , sp. nov. ( Figs 10 View Figures 1–15 , 29 View Figures 28–35 )

Description. Head. Antennae filiform in male, grey with white at basal about ten segment dorsally. Frons dark yellowish brown on dorsal half, pale mixed with white on ventral half. Labial palpus greyish brown. Vertex white, suffused with sparse pale yellow scales.

Thorax. Patagia white suffused with yellowish brown scales below. Tegulae white, Dorsal and ventral side of thorax white. Legs pale yellowish brown to white with sparse black spots, fore- and median femora suffused with pale yellow, black patches present between femora and tibia of fore- and median legs, hind tibia not dilated in male, without hair-pencil, both sexes with two pairs of spurs. Forewing length: male 19–23 mm. Forewing with apex acute, outer margin almost straight. Hind wing with a short tail, acute at tip, shoulder prominent. Wings white. Forewing densely diffused with pale grey striation, short black streaks present on costal area between base and postmedial line; antemedial and postmedial lines straight, broad, and greyish brown, former nearer to latter on anal margin than on costa; discal spot linear and greyish brown; terminal line black, indistinct near apex and anal angle; fringes mostly yellowish brown, white near apex and anal angle. Hind wing with discal spot indistinct; medial line straight, greyish brown, curved posteriorly; submarginal area densely diffused with pale grey striation; terminal line black, invisible near shoulder, tip of tail and anal angle; fringes reddish brown; tail with two spots at base, connected by a dark grey band, anterior large, dark red, edged with black scales, posterior represented by a black dash. Underside white, transverse lines faintly indicated. Forewing with R 1 and R 2 coincident.

Abdomen. Abdomen white without setal comb on third sternite.

Male genitalia. Uncus stout and with pointed apex. Socii small and membranous. Gnathos with median process short and broad, about three-fourths width of base of uncus, rounded apically. Valva simple, rounded apically; costa straight. Furca developed on right side, slightly curved, rounded apically, terminating with a dense row of thorns, reaching middle of gnathos. Saccus rounded and short. Aedeagus cylindrical; vesica with a small sclerotized plate densely covered with numerous short cornuti, all of similar size.

Diagnosis. The wing patterns of the new species is distinctive in the following characters: the transverse lines are broad; the tail of the hind wing is short and the shoulder is prominent; the anterior red spot of the tail is larger and more distinct than the posterior one. The male genitalia are similar to O. ravida Inoue, 1995 ( Fig. 30 View Figures 28–35 ) and O. chrisbahri ( Fig. 28 View Figures 28–35 ), but the uncus of O. aniqiaoensis Cheng & Zhu , sp. nov. and O. chrisbahri are longer than that of O. ravida ; the cornuti are represented by a long bunch of spines and are not easily lost during dissection.

Etymology. The specific name is named after the type locality of the holotype.
