Haliotrematoides longihamus ( Zhukov, 1976) View in CoL n. comb.
Syn. Haliotrema longihamus Zhukov, 1976 .
Type host and locality: Lane snapper, Lutjanus synagris (Linnaeus) (Lutjanidae) : Bay of Campeche (Area Havana).
Site of infection: Gills.
Previous records (as Haliotrema longihamus ): Lutjanus synagris: Bay of Campeche (Area Havana) ( Zhukov 1976); Puerto Rico ( Bosques Rodríguez 2004). Lutjanus mahogoni: Bay of Campeche (Area Havana) ( Zhukov 1976); Puerto Rico ( Bosques Rodríguez 2004). Lutjanus analis : Puerto Rico ( Bosques Rodríguez 2004). Lutjanus griseus : Puerto Rico ( Bosques Rodríguez 2004).
Remarks: Specimens of this species were not available for study. The species is transferred to Haliotrematoides as H. longihamus ( Zhukov, 1976) n. comb. based on the original figures of the anchor/bar complex and MCO provided by Zhukov (1976) and Figure 30 in Bosques Rodríguez (2004).
The MCO of Haliotrematoides longihamus is similar to that of H. gracilihamus , although the shaft is longer and more convoluted than that of H. gracilihamus . The two species are further differentiated by H. gracilihamus lacking inner blades on the distal portions of the ventral and dorsal anchor shafts (present in H. longihamus ).
