Distribution and habitat: — Brazil ( Bahia , in Chapada Diamantina ). Campo rupestre; 970–1430 m.

Taxonomic Notes: —Known only from few collections from the southeastern part of Chapada Diamantina . The combination of small ovate leaves, 2–3 florets per capitulum and glabrous cypselae distinguishes Eremanthus hatschbachii from E. brevifolius (oblong to elliptic leaves, 4–7 florets, glabrous cypselae) and E. rondoniensis MacLeish & Schumacher (1984: 89) (narrowly elliptic leaves, 1 floret, cypselae with sericeous base).
