Distribution and habitat: — Brazil (Ceará, known only from the Chapada do Araripe and Chapada of Ibiapaba). Cerrado and margins of secondary forests; 700–1030 m.

Taxonomic Notes: —Very similar to Eremanthus capitatus ( Sprengel 1826: 507) MacLeish (1987: 285) , from which it is set apart by its lower number of capitula per glomerule: (1–)2–3(–7) vs. 6–9. Additionally, these are allopatric species. Eremanthus arboreus does not occur in sympatry with any other species of the genus.
