2. Lychnocephalus mellobarretoi (Barroso) Loeuille, Semir & Pirani View in CoL , comb. nov. Lychnophora mellobarretoi ( Barroso 1956: 261) . Type:— BRAZIL. Minas Gerais: Santa Luzia, Serra do Cipó , km 138, estrada do Pilar , 2 November 1938, H.L. de Mello Barreto 8971 (holotype: RB [ RB00650576 ]; isotypes: BHCB [ BHCB000060 About BHCB ], F e! [ F0077154 F]) ( Fig. 20 F View FIGURE 20 ).

Distribution and habitat: — Brazil (Minas Gerais, known only from Serra do Cipó.). Campo rupestre; 1300– 1380 m.

Taxonomic Notes: —Distinctive features are the petiolate leaves with eucamptodromous venation. Similar to L. tomentosa , which has a more robust habit than L. mellobarretoi , 5–10 florets per capitulum (vs. 4–6) and lacks an extremely reduced outer pappus. Also resembling L. humillimus : see that species for a discussion of the differences.
