1. Lychnocephalus humillimus (Schultz-Bipontinus) Loeuille, Semir & Pirani , comb. nov. Lychnophora humillima Schultz-Bipontinus (1863: 371) . Type:— BRAZIL. Minas Gerais: Serra da Lapa , in glaerosis, November-December 1824, L. Riedel 1159 (holotype: LE; isotypes: BR e! [ BR0000005520657 (fragment)], F e! [ F0077176 F (fragment)], GH e! [ GH00009908 ], K e! [ K000497119 ], LE, LECB (not seen), P e! [ P00683123 , P00683124 ], US [ US 00147443]) ( Fig. 20 D ).

Distribution and habitat: — Brazil (Minas Gerais). Campo rupestre; ca. 1300–1350 m.

Taxonomic Notes: —A rarely collected species. Easily recognized by its decumbent habit and sessile leaves. Related to L. mellobarretoi , which differs from L. humillimus by having an erect habit and petiolate leaves. Schultz-Bipontinus (1863: 371) cited the material of L. Riedel at LE; despite there being two sheets at LE there is no need for lectotypification because several details indicate which sheet had been examined by Schultz-Bipontinus: the holotype sheet bears a label with a short description written by Riedel and copied by Schultz-Bipontinus, the isotype also has this label but the description slightly differs with these additional words “florit capit involucrat” not included in Schultz-Bipontinus text. Schultz-Bipontinus also wrote “Nov., Dec. an. 1824”, the November reference is only found on a label from the holotype and absent from the isotype.
