Anthomyia pusio Wiedemann 1830: 437 . Type-locality: “South America ”.

Atomogaster pusio Macquart 1844: 326 .

Homalomyia femorata Loew 1861: 42 . Synonymy by Johnson (1914: 448). Type-locality: “ Cuba ”.

Limnophora exilis Williston 1896: 369 . Synonymy by Snyder (1965: 273). Type-locality: Saint Vincent Island.

Mesazelia trichopoda Blanchard 1942: 57 . Synonymy by Carvalho et al. (2003: 18) Type-locality: Argentina, Formosa and Tucumán.

Remarks: Fannia pusio is widely distributed in Brazil ( Wendt & Carvalho 2009) and in several other countries in the New World, Africa and the Mediterranean (see Carvalho et al. 2003). However, this species was not recorded for the northern region of Brazil until now. In the collections examined, male specimens from the state of Pará were found, hence the distribution of F. p u s i o is expanded.
