Pediobius bruchicida ( Rondani, 1872) View in CoL , Bouček, 1974: 246, 279.
Diagnosis. The angle between vertex and occiput distinctly obtuse ( Fig. 17 View FIGURE 17 c). Occiput blunted, only with carina reduced to a short carina behind each lateral ocellus ( Fig. 17 View FIGURE 17 b). Collar of pronotum without anterior carina. Sculpture of mesoscutum and scutellum as described in P. pyrgo . Propodeum with a fine median carina ( Fig. 17 View FIGURE 17 a).
Material examined. CHINA, Yunnan: 7♀, Kunming , XI. 1988, coll. Hong-Ming Yang. Determined specimens compared ( ANIC) : 1♀, AUSTRALIA, Queensland, near Gympie, Cootharaba Lake , 13.XI.1976, coll. Bouček, det. Z. Bouček ; 1♀, AUSTRALIA, SE. Queensland, Surfers Paradise , 21.XI.1976, coll. Bouček, det. Z. Bouček ; 2♀, ITALIA, Palermo , coll. G. Loverde, det. Z. Bouček .
Biology. Pediobius bruchicida has been recorded as both a primary and a secondary parasitoid from a broad range of hosts, including insects from Coleoptera , Diptera , Hymenoptera and Lepidoptera ( Noyes 2016) .
Distribution in China. Yunnan.
Remarks. Newly recorded from China. There is a variation on the relative width of smooth median band of scutellum for P. bruchicida , which of specimens in IZCAS is slightly narrower than that of specimens loaned from ANIC. Within the pyrgo -group, P. bruchicida is a distinctive species having the angle between vertex and occiput distinctly obtuse and the occipital carina reduced to a short carina behind each posterior ocellus ( Figs 17 View FIGURE 17 b–c), and also pronotal collar lacking anterior carina. Pediobius bruchicida is closely allied to P. pyrgo , as discussed by Bouček (1965a), who recognized both species as twin species. With the combination of above characters and propodeum with a fine median carina, P. bruchicida can be separated from P. pyrgo and also other species within this species group.
