Diagnosis. Oospila acymanta has blackish marginal line to wings. its hind wing margin is slightly angulate at veins M1 and M3. Other small sized Oospila species have their hind wings' distal margin lined in yellow, and roundish in shape.
Description. Wingspan, 15–16 mm (Fig. 8). The palpi, frons and vertex are dark brown, the interantennal fillet is white. The male antennae are bipectinate with the length of external and inner rami reaching 0.5 and 0.4 mm, accordingly. The thorax is dark green dorsally, the abdomen is greenish and the crests light brown. The wings are green with a blackish marginal line and roundish discal spots, the costal edge of the fore wing lined greyish brown (darker apically and ending in a dark spot on the fringe). The discal spots include red pupillae. The fringe of hind wing is brownish with blackish spots against the veins M1 and M3.
Male genitalia (Fig. 43): The genital capsule is voluminous. The distal process of the uncus is short, triangular. The gnathi are hooked and the socii are large, roundish. The vinculum is broad, the saccus slightly notched to its middle. The tegumen is broader than the vinculum. The valva is deeply split, the valvula being setose at tip and having a pair of small processes to its middle. The sacculus is enlarged, bearing a long distal process. The anellar complex has two long dorsal appendages. The aedeagus is tubular with one conical cornutus on the vesica. The posterior margin of sternite A8 is smoothly bilobed.
Genetic data. Not yet DNA barcoded.
Distribution. Bolivia, Brazil (locus typicus: Prov. Mato Grosso: Urucum).
Biology. The material was collected in December in dry tropical forests.
