Redescription. MALE (holotype, Figs. 3 View FIGURE 3 , 5 View FIGURE 5 C–E, 6, 20). Body, including gnathosoma and opisthosomal lobes, 400 (390–420 in 4 paratypes) long and 260 (250–260) wide. Idiosoma . Propodonotal shield about 100 long and 80 wide. Hysteronotal shield about 200 long, 80 wide at level of setae d1 and 120 wide at level of setae f2 bases. Minimal distance between shields about 40. Dorsal striae fine. Posterior pair of genital papillae located distinctly outside anterior pair. Aedeagus 35–40 long; sheath of aedeagus present, subequal to aedeagus in length. Diameter of adanal suckers about 20. Adanal shields fused or narrowly separated anteriorly, about 90 long. Terminal cleft about 30 long. Opisthosomal lobes 35–40 wide at base. Apical membrane of opisthosomal lobes absent. Maximum distance between lobes about 40. Lengths of setae: si 40–45, se 130–145, c2 120–130, cp 270–280, c3 190–200, d2 120–130, e2 150–160, f2 200–220, h2 and h3 370–400, ps1 180–190, ps2 210–220, ps 3 25–27, 1 a 65–70, 3 a 190– 200, 4 a 75–80, 4 b 180–200, and g 3–4. Distances between setal bases (approximate): c1-c1 100, c2-c2 160, d1-d1 80, d2-d2 120, e1- e1 60, e2-e2 120, and 4b-4b 50. Distances between levels of seta bases (approximate): c1-d1 40 and e1- e2 60. Legs III about 340 long; legs IV about 250 long. Tarsi III and IV about 90 and 80 long, respectively. Lengths of solenidia and setae: ω 1 I 35–37, ω1 II 20–21, ω3 38–40, φ I 75 –80, φ II 90 –100, φ III 100–105, φ IV 80 – 90, σ 1 I 90–100, σ2 I 3, σ II 14–15, σ III 70 –75, sR III 150–170, kT III and kT IV about 80.

FEMALE (4 paratypes, Figs. 4 View FIGURE 4 , 5 View FIGURE 5 A, B, 20). Body, including gnathosoma, 380–390 long and 200–220 wide. Idiosoma . Propodonotal shield about 100 long and 80 wide. Hysteronotal shield absent. Dorsal striae fine. Epigynum about 80 long. Bursa copulatrix globular. Lengths of setae: si 20–25, se 140–180, c2 90–110, cp 180– 220, c3 85–105, d2 and e2 60 –80, f2 35–40, h2 and h3 180–200, ps1 about 20, ps2 and ps3 35–37, 1 a about 40, 3a 45–50, 4 a about 100, 4 b and g 50–60. Distances between setal bases (approximate): c1-c1 100, c2-c2 160, d1-d1 60, d2-d2 100, e1- e1 60, e2-e2 120, and 4b-4b 60. Distances between levels of seta bases (approximate): c1-d1 40, d1-d2 5, and e1- e2 50. Legs III and IV about 180 long. Tarsi III and IV 50 –55 long. Lengths of solenidia and setae: ω1 I 26–28, ω1 II 18–19, ω 3 25–26, φ I 57 –60, φ II 70 –75, φ III 58 –63, φ IV 34 –35, σ 1 I 55–60, σ 2 I 2–3, σ II 9–10, σ III 37 –39, sR III 90 –100, kT III and kT IV 36 –40.

Type material examined. Holotype male ( MRAC 188.256), 4 male, 4 female and 1 tritonymph paratypes ( MRAC 188.256-188.257) from Estrilda melpoda (Vieillot) ( Passeriformes : Estrildidae ), CAMEROON: Centre region, Yaounde, 3°52'N, 11°31'E, November 1955, coll. J. Mouchet.

Non-type material examined. 18 males, 6 females, and 1 tritonymph ( MRAC 188.258-188.259) from Estrilda melpoda , CAMEROON: Centre region, Yaounde, 3°52'N, 11°31'E, November 1956, coll. J. Gaud; 2 males and 2 females ( MRAC 188.261) from Estrilda nonnula Hartlaub , CAMEROON: Centre region, Yaounde, 3°52'N, 11°31'E, November 1955, coll. J. Gaud; 1 male ( MRAC 188.260) from Estrilda atricapilla (Verreaux and Verreaux) , CAMEROON: Centre region, Yaounde, 3°52'N, 11°31'E, November 1955, coll. J. Mouchet; 1 female ( MRAC 188.262) from Estrilda astrild (Linnaeus) , SOUTH AFRICA: Limpopo, Haenerstburg, 23°56'39'S, 29°56'41''E, 26–29 November 1961, coll. J. Gaud; 3 males, 3 females, 4 tritonymphs, 4 protonymphs, and 3 larvae ( UMMZ BMOC 10-0503-003) Estrilda astrild cavendishi , MALAWI: Northern Region, Rumphi Dist.
