Biscutella boetica Boiss. & Reut.
status

Biscutella boetica Boiss. & Reut. View in CoL in Boissier (1854: 42). Lectotypus (here designated):— SPAIN. “in campis siccis montosis circâ Malagam et praecipué al Cerro, au nord de la Ville, 30 Aprili” (G barcode G-00418100!). Fig. 2 View FIGURE 2 .

= Biscutella apula View in CoL var. [α] megacarpaea Boissier (1839: 55) View in CoL , pro parte [syn. excl.]. Lectotypus (here designated):— SPAIN. The same specimen (G barcode G-00418100!).

Notes:—Despite the orthographical variant “ baetica ” has sometimes been applied to the concerned name, it seems that Boissier (1854) intended to use the form B. boetica View in CoL , as deduced from comparison with the different typography in the name B. magacarpaea which was described in page 44 of the same work. Therefore, according to Art. 61.1 of the ICN the name should be retained in its original spelling. Although Boissier, when describing B. boetica View in CoL , certainly considered it to include his previous B. apula var. megacarpaea View in CoL (referred to as “ B. apula β megacarpaea View in CoL ”), he did not use the same epithet at the specific rank, and both names may have different types. Therefore, we have deliberately chosen here the same lectotype for both names in order to remark Boissier’s intention and to simplify the nomenclature in this case.
