Distribution:— India, the Himalayas, Myanmar, Thailand, Indochina, southwestern and southern China, Taiwan and throughout Malesia to northern Australia and New Caledonia.
Notes:— Hooker (1890b: 93) moved two of three syntypes of this taxon to other species. Macrae 58 from Sri Lanka became a syntype of T. thwaitesii Hook. f. and Wallich 7386B from Myanmar was declared another species, too poor to identify. It is here referred to T. maxwellii .
