Brief description: —Shrubs 3–5 m tall. Leaf petiole 5.7–22.8 mm long, blade 13.35–45 × 3–20.3 cm, margin entire, rarely bilobed, venation camptodromous, abaxial surface hispidulous to hispid; capitula discoid, involucre 7.85–11 × 8–11.3 mm, phyllaries pilose or glabrous; receptacle holopaleaceous, paleae 8.7–9.2 mm long; disc florets 60–70 per capitulum, corolla 6–6.9 mm long, pale yellow to yellow; cypselae 2.1–2.85 mm long, eglandular, pappus 50–80 bristles.
Geographic distribution: —Endemic to Mexico, in Oaxaca ( US 3198104!) and Veracruz (MO 2865746!) states. This is the first time it is documented in Oaxaca ( Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 ).
