Maranta friedrichsthaliana Körnicke (1862: 42)

Type (lectotype, designated here):— COSTA RICA. Monte Aguacate , November 1845 -1848, Ørsted s.n. ( C10014454 ; isolectotypes: C10014452 , C10014453 , W [†]). ( Fig. 12 )

Remaining syntype:— COSTA RICA. no date, Friedrichsthal 1269 ( W [†]).

Protologue citation:—“ Guatemala in monte Aquacate leg. Friedrichsthal n. l269 (Herb. Vindob.), et Oersted (Herb. Oersted).”

Notes:— Körnicke (1862) cited the gatherings Friedrichsthal 1269 ( W) and Ørsted ( C). The Friedrichsthal 1269 ( W) specimen was destroyed, and no duplicates were found by us. The Ørsted s.n. gathering is represented by three specimens at C herbarium, as well as a photograph of Macbride’s Collection (Photo Negative no. F 22238). The specimen C 10014454 (Ørsted s.n.) is designated here as the lectotype since it has a stamp which says “Specimen originale”, probably made by the author.
