Protologue citation:—“Crescit Surinami ad plant. La Rencontre, m. Aprilis florens. [ H. C.Focke]”
Notes:— Maranta protacta was based only on Focke 793. Three duplicates were found in HAL, L and U herbarium, and we herein designated the specimen U 0003919 as the lectotype.
